Change Your Self Talk and Get the Most Out of Your Thinking

Become aware of your self talk; what is that voice inside your head saying to you all day?           Jerry Bruckner

Do you hear yourself as you go about your daily chores?

Probably not.

We are quite prone to a continuous mind chatter.Only it is inaudible. But do you know, this self dialogue has enormous potential to elevate your confidence?.And the ability to live a fuller life?
Well, to cut the chatter short, your self talk just revolves around one thing.Your thinking.

What you think is what you speak.Even to your own self. But the effect is phenomenal.Your life actually meets its twists and turns riding the chugging  train of your thoughts.Stop them, change them ,or get rid of them;the influence..... is perceptible.

So what can we do to squeeze the most out of our involuntary thinking?Doubtlessly,it is involuntary, and it is constant..Yet that's not to say its wasteful. No sir.

Your thinking is absolutely only one thing.

Its Nuclear.

What you think is what you send out.And what you get back too!
So here's what you and I need to do fully extract its power......

  • Make a habit of focussing on winning, success, encouragement, and constructive activity.
  • Revisit the victories of your past. How often have you won in the past?Keep a count of those winning runs.
  • Keep a score card at hand which you can refer often.Every tiny ability you possess is a victory to be relished. Can you read?Write?Drive?Swim?Cycle?Type?Crack a joke?Cook an omelette?Work online?Be polite and civil? Each innocuous activity here is a victory of sorts. Can you recall a time in your  past when you couldn't do some of these things?Well you have a reason to feel good about your tiny abilities. No,don't dismiss it with a cynic wave.Listen to your self talk.
  • Focus on  your demonstrated ability to overcome your weaknesses. You are already a champ.Or you disagree with that? Why just because you don't hear the echo of ten thousand hands in applause?Come on give yourself a break.Surely your self applause cant be so cheap that it holds no thrill for you.?
  • Encourage yourself and spend more time looking for solutions, searching possibilities, and pushing back  self imposed limits.
  • Stay longer with your strengths and abilities.Turn away from the hypnotic pull of  discouraging comparisons. And the emotional charge surrounding those negative memories, which are useless anyway.
  • Make sure you feel strong and capable about yourself.Pep yourself instead of meekly surrendering to your "borrowed limitations"."Borrowed" because its not what you originally think, but what others make you think.Stand up.Look your fear in the teeth.Yes show your fear your own set of powerful fangs.Take it on.You can.Look around your neighborhood for the local hero.He probably stood up to his terrifying fears before winning his spurs. You can too.Draw inspiration.
  • Never,ever build a case against yourself.
  • While others row downstream, make sure you row upstream. Finally only one possession is guaranteed to be yours.Your choice.
  • When a new task comes up stop your urge to escape and avoid. It may sound "human", but not essential for your growth.Meet new situations with the determination to come out a winner. If not anything else, you can be a wiiner at practicing your "calm-strong-empowered" response.
  • Whenever old negative memories come swirling out of the sky at you what do you do?How do you react when worry, with a capital "W", shoots paralysing arrows at you?Wanna be honest? You over react.
  • Next time around when you meet the "red clouds"in your mind;under react.Under carry the weight of your fears and regrets.Watch your confidence zoom.
Those are just a few simple DIY steps to empower yourself. What do you do usually to get the most out of your self talk?I'd be glad to listen.

Over to you my friends........

I appreciate your time spent going through the post.
I think we need to take out time for ourselves and that only happens when we consider ourselves worthy enough.
Pushing back self imposed limits is just one of the many processes to gain power over ourselves.
Thanks Melissa.
