We all want to be happy surely.But not now. To delay happiness is a cultural infection of sorts.Happiness is a mental concept.A distant reality dangling from a possibility that might happen.Or might not. Fear of falling short of our distant dreams eats into our present moments;and our feelings .I guess it seems better to prolong the waiting;than meet the improbability.And that is how we spend the major chunks of our lives.Yet happiness seldom knocks on the door of our day, uninvited.So we spend our slippery moments in tireless waiting.For that final knock.

Like a drop of frozen wax,for most of us, happiness is just an object;an idea.No more a feeling.

Yet you know; it can be created ,and felt.

Create That Feeling

Happiness is a silky gush within the velvet walls of your heart.Unlike a dry mental vision sleeping on a bed of neurons in your brain.When you feel happy you experience lightness and an urge to reach out.You expand.You want to help,you forgive without effort,and you like yourself.It’s deeply satisfying.

And it’s immediate.

When you think about being happy, it’s just a plan waiting to unfold later.Perhaps to be shared over a drink.
Yet the intriguing secret is that you can feel happy;but only if you want to.

Here's what works ,more often than not.............

Count Your Blessings.

How many blessings can you count?Why not make yourself a blessing- counting champ? Can you be a champion for the cause of your own happiness?The fact is you can be.This is the least you can do for yourself.Believe me, you deserve it.

Squeeze The Lemon Of This Moment

Each moment arrives at your doorstep with its own mishmash of juices;bittersweet,salty,aromatic,lingering,and downright boring.Only we need to decide what to do with them.It’s not a hard choice though,if you know how to squeeze the good juices out of this moment.Of course all times will not be ringing with jubilation.We know that.But can you use your creative sights to wring out your joy?
Can you smile at yourself?
Is it banned in any way?
Can you pat yourself on the back now and then?
Can you take yourself less seriously?
Can you give yourself a sip of unadulterated, inner happiness,even if for a few seconds a day?
Is there a silent police car waiting to pounce on you ,if you indulge in your “juices of joy”?

You know the answer, don’t you?

There is no fun,hawk like, in clutching onto your grudges,regrets,pain,worries,and fallacies.You deserve better.

Be happy for your own well being.

Smell The Roses

Sounds corny?Smell the roses.

But try it one day.Just for the sheer heck of it.And when you do it,close your eyes and permit yourself to feeeeel the smell really within the inter spaces of your cells.Time might pause for a few aromatic moments under your nostrils;as you inhale the primal fragrance .It’s the bubbling happiness of the universe connecting with you through your smell cells.Let it.

Let yourself.

Commit Yourself To Feeling Than Thinking

Thinking is good for your survival.It helps you navigate the dark alleys of your city.It helps you plan.It also helps you analyse.The glitch is,often times it becomes intoxicating,and then you over think.

But feeling is something else.

It seldom happens inside the whirring wheels of your brain.It unfolds somewhere in your chest,and it transports you far and fast towards your fulfillment.So you need to commit yourself to feeling happy.It’s stems from your decision to feel more.To control less.To respond spontaneously more.To trust your gut ,and the goodness of the universe more.

After all there is a Higher Intelligence at work somewhere ,and you know it in your heart of hearts.You didn't make yourself did you?There was Infinite Creative Intelligence at work even when you were being conceived in the womb. At the very least, be bold enough to trust that Cosmic Software to support your decision to feel happy.

Laugh Many Times

Laughter is the sauce to garnish the morsels of your fragmented moments .Indulge in it.Enjoy the heave of the universe spasm through your chest,through your throat,through your eyes,through those wrinkles on your face; as you let out your joy.

Worship life with incense.Of  your own laughter.

Yesterday Is 1000 Years Old

There is one thing very good about the past;nostalgia.It raises goosebumps when you revisit yesterday’s moments of bliss.And it also troubles you endlessly if you are particularly weak at resisting negative memories.But we certainly now that yesterday will never ,ever come back again.

Its gone forever.

Your moment of agony may have happened yesterday ,or a decade back ,or ten years ago,or a thousand.It’s all the same.So you just must let go of the past,once you decide that you’re going to enjoy your present.Why barricade yourself within imaginary prisons of a dead era?

Tomorrow Is Not Doomsday

Yesterday is a faint cloud,and tomorrow is a shimmering mirage in the hot sands of your vision.You see many things happening tomorrow.Some are exciting;and some distressing.And if you’re someone constantly knocked down by discouraging possibilities,and bitten by the worry ants then tomorrow will surely chew into your strong muscles.

You need to know that tomorrow is just a possibility.

Not necessarily a disheartening one.Of course problems ,and curve balls will fly out of the sky at you.They come at everyone anyway.What you need to focus on is your ability to solve your problems,not be worn down by them.Problems are never stronger than the humans connected with them.Unless they convince themselves otherwise.So even if tomorrow is a huge mountain of unsolved issues,take heart.You are stronger than you think.

In the meantime be happy ,as you await another sunrise.

Let Go Of That Boulder Of Grudge & Regret

You have been bashed in the past by situations,people,events,little failures,big embarrassments.So what’re you goin’ to do about it now?
Carry that heavy,laden,rundown feeling with you for life? 
Is it worth it?
Is that what you’re here for?
Does it really bring you any sense of accomplishment?
Are you so helpless before your perceived pains,and hurts that you cant stand firm in the face of new challenges?

These questions are important,and you must interrogate yourself.When you do that you’ll  most likely hear some commonsense answers,from within.

There are times when the most sage advice will not brighten your attitudes or make you feel better.Any number of books you have read might fall short of boosting your morale really.You know that your thinking ,and your feeling is your own responsibility yet you tend to gravitate hypnotically towards deflating thoughts, memories,concepts,apprehensions.And you have tried every thing you know of, to elevate your spirits;including affirmations,yoga,calmness techniques.and the works.These are the precise moments for calling upon your ability to play a nice sport  to perk your spirits.No need to go anywhere special,you can play it wherever you are present .Its just called the How-Nice-It-Is-Game.

Subtle Influence
You see when you force yourself to think positive sometimes your mind will resist the artificial pressure to feel good.On the other hand  if you indirectly suggest something positive to your mind the impact is quite subtle and effective.So how do you play this subtly effective game to alter your mindstate?Well its really very simple. Just pick any wish,desire,aspiration or possibility and make a statement to yourself by prefixing  “how nice it is” or “how nice it would be ” to whatever you are wishing. Effectively  what you are doing is simply sliding a possibility in front  your mind to chew upon and taste it ,without goading it ,or forcefully coercing it in any way.You are gently but surely releasing your desires into the cosmic mould,and the mind just loves working overtime on such “fleeting possibilities” ,to manifest them.

Pleasant Waves
This game is also good to play when there is some disturbing subject on your “mind radar”.Interestingly  if there is a wish that you want manifested you can try this process.It surely works at calming you down and sending out ‘pleasant waves’ into your thought atmosphere.Often,before you know it you end up feeling a lot more positive about life,and the world.

I am offering some interesting “how nice it would be” statements.They are gentle, yet oozing with promise of goodness.By themselves they are powerful enough to alter your outlook.Of course you are free to exercise your own creativity to come up with subjects more dear to you for playing this game.

Happiness Is How You Feel

Life's fabulous for me 
The most basic search by any living organism is for happiness.Every endeavour by any living being ,community,organisation,society,or  civilisation is for hapiness only.
Why do we  want to be happy and not be unhappy .We want to be happy because that is the most fundamental attribute of our human constitution.At the most  rudimentary level  each sentient and non sentient system  wants to attain equilibrium & stability .Happiness is the biggest reflection of stability,balance & equilibrium in the internal “ecosystem”.

What comes in the way of your happiness

What interferes with your happiness is the misunderstanding that happiness follows having,being,doing something .This is the dichotomy that separates happiness from the experience that is you and me .The fact is that happiness  does not follow acievement but it’s the genesis  of achievement.

Can happiness be obtained

Happiness can be obtained for those who believe it must be obtained.However,happiness will prevail for those who know it is  a state of being ,instead of an event heralding the acquisition of something (happiness).So ,essentially happiness is a state of being .It is not  in having everything happening our way necessarily all the time.Rather,it is a state of mind & being to be in grace  inspite of what  ever is happening outside.So at best  we can “incline ourselves  towards  happiness”as  Marci Shimoff says.

When they opened the Tomb of Hermes the most powerful piece of wisdom was emblazoned on the stone,which said  “as within so without”.Which means that your entire universe is a reflection of whatever is happening inside.Happiness is  also an outcome of what is happening inside.

Whatever is happening inside is very important .Your thoughts and feelings dictate how happy you end up feeling.You are always asked to think positively, and towards that end there is a huge industry focussing on teaching people to think positively.Affirmations,hypnosis,neuro linguistic programming,meditation,are some of the holistic methods used for increasing your happiness quotient,other than the run of the mill pursuits.Thoughts ,doubtlessly,are very crucial in ensuring you have a positive outlook towards life.Even more important are the feelings & emotions you harbour about life.

The Buddha said desire is the root cause of misery.He was  right because we always desire.Because of this our desires remain unfulfilled for a finite duration.And in this waiting period ,while our desires are awaiting manifestation we make ourselves unhappy.We make ourselves miserable due to temporarily unfulfilled desires..

For some people the temporary stage of non fulfillment lasts a very long time.It even starts to appear permanent.Because of this impression our misery becomes a loyal companion of the state of non fulfillment.But we need to stop here and question.

Do we necessarily need to join ranks with misery because of our non fulfilled desires?
