There's  always been a cat n mouse between complaining and appreciating.Complaining is a big pass-time for lots of "intellectual" people. And appreciating is another alternative which is only for the pollyanna variety.Or so they say.I've found a couple of telling quotes for both.Go ahead and have a look.

Hi Mona,

This is an excellent set of quotes. Many thanks for compiling them!

Indeed, complaining really does have a bad energy associated with it. When we complain, we give off bad energy, which spreads and generally creates bad atmospheres.

Appreciation on the hand has a warm energy associated with. When we appreciate what we have and appreciate each other, rather than complain, we create healthier environments.

Thank you.

Hi Mona

Really great quotes and good reminder to never complain. Besides so many things we could complain about there is nothing we can do about it. It is rarely but annoying to us and doesn't affect our lives in any significant way.

Nice to be remind to appreciate all the blessings we have and so much better off than many others.

Hi Hiten
you've hit the bull's eye with your point about craeting healthy environments through appreciation. And yes appreciation does have "warm" energy.
Thanks for the insight

Hi Mary,
Thanks for your addition about the reminder for our blessings. You're pretty right about that .We all need a reminder now and then.
In fact we all have a knack of appreciating things and people around us.But we reman hesitant ,if not unwilling,to practice it.
Thanks for your contribution

I'll take appreciation any time. Whether one appreciates or complains, it self-perpetuates. We see what we expect to see.
BTW I love the Chesterton quote!

Hi Mona...I followed you back from your comment on my site and you KNOW I had to comment here. I think it is clear from these quotes that GRATITUDE is the clear winner :-) Although the quote from Lord Jeffry was a little harsh, it made it very clear that complainers have little souls and inferior intellects! Ha! I wouldn't have put it quite so bluntly but it does help to keep it in perspective. Thanks for these reminders! ~Kathy

HI Mona, the more we are appreciative, the better perspective we have of the world around us. We see things more positively and somehow, we come across more positive experiences. If we can learn to be more mindful of our judging and complaining tendencies, we can really change our lives.

For me, I've tried to be more mindful and acknowledge the many things I'm grateful for. More gratitude brings even more things I can be grateful for - the appreciation cycle keeps on circulating.

BTW appreciation is self prpetuating.
Thanks

Hi Kathy,
You're welcome to Richmiraclefiles.
I must confess that the very idea of writing this post was to make it a reminder for myself to appreciate things and people around me.Great quotes are a very subtle way of saying a lot with a little.
Yeah, about Lord Jeffrey's quote..it is a bit harsh i admit. And as you said it is doing the balancing act well here.
Thanks for your time
